Dr. Cheng won Chinese Chemical Society Young Chemist Award and Changjiang Young Scholar of Ministry of Education in 2016, the Excellent Young Scientist Foundation of NSFC in 2015, and the 14th the Fok Ying-Tong Education Foundation in 2014. Dr. Cheng also won the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University and the Beijing Nova Program in 2012. Dr. Cheng graduated from Zhejiang University and received a doctor’s degree from the department of chemistry and physics of polymers from 2003.9-2007.12, and then finished his postdoctoral work in Tsinghua University and Florida State University from 2008.1-2009.12, respectively. In January 2010, Dr. Cheng joined in Beihang University as an Associate Professor. He was promoted to be doctoral tutor in 2013, and full Professor in December 2015.

His research is focused on bioinspired functional nanocomposites. Dr. Cheng has published 46 peer-review papers, including Accounts of Chemical Research (1), Chemical Society Reviews (2), Angewandte Chemie International Edition (3), Advanced Materials (3), ACS Nano (6), Advanced Functional Materials (1), et al. He is authorized 6 Chinese patents, and serves as a referee for more than 20 peer-review journals, including Angewandte Chemie International Edition, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano and Advanced Functional Materials and so on. His research is mainly supported by: (1) Excellent Young Scientist Foundation of NSFC; (2) Beijing Science and Technology Program; (3) National Natural Science Foundation of China;(4) the Scientific Research Foundation for the Returned Overseas Chinese Scholars, State Education Ministry, China.
